Frequently Asked questions

Do we need to book tickets?
No we do not offer pre booked tickets our running days, tickets can be purchased from our ticket office on site. Payments can be made either by card or cash. More information on our tickets can be found here.
Our only pre-booked events are Winter Lights and Santa Specials.
what days are you open?
For 2026, we will open on every Sunday 2-5pm from Sunday 3rd May until Sunday 27th September (except for 19th July). We also operate some Special Events outside these dates, for more information about our Calendar and Special Events click here.
do you get busy? are the queues long? do you have quieter times?
We certainly can get busy, especially if the weather is good. Although rare, we do sometimes have something go wrong on the day that is out of our control (such as a signaling problem), and these can cause delays. You will be kept informed on the day of any hold ups by the station staff. This can cause the queue to get quite long. We are generally quieter after 4:00 each Sunday.
is there an entrance fee?
There is no entrance fee for regular running days however, some special events may require an entrance fee (Knaphill Village Show).
are you open bank holidays?
Unfortunately not, some of our members work on these days.
what do i get if i book a party and how do i book?
Please see our birthday parties page for more details.
when do you run the highlander?
At the moment, we are running the Suburban and Miler routes only. The Highlander route is undergoing essential works and thorough testing before it's reopened. At some special events, we will only run the Suburban route.
Is there a minimum age to ride on the trains?
Unfortunately yes. We regret that due to the terms of our insurance cover, we are not able to carry children under 12 months as passengers on our trains. Any children under 12 months are of course still welcome on site.
