Modellers Section
The Modellers are a section of the Society working in smaller scales. We were formerly known as the Brooklands Model Railway Group which had been formed about 1970. Over the next thirty years we used premises at Weybridge, Byfleet and Horsell (two sites). It became part of the Society when we moved to the home of Mizens Railway at the Barrs Lane site in 2000. Many of the modellers then also became very active in the running of Mizens Railway.
We currently have three 4mm layouts. All have made many exhibition appearances in the past.
Our large 00-gauge layout "Thirdley" is set in the North-West during WWII.
Our smaller 00-gauge layout "Millford" is set in the LNER region in the early BR period.
"Sankley" was originally constructed in P4 scale as an entry in a P4 Society competition and made a considerable number of exhibition appearances. It is currently being converted into a 00-gauge finescale layout with DCC control.
Our N-gauge layout, “Ivley”, set in the South-West features a double-track mainline and a single-track line.
Other interests of our members include G-Scale (1:20∙3 on 45mm gauge) and, of course, 7¼ inch gauge.
Work has started on a new 00-gauge project incorporating a loco depot and townscene with a tram layout.
The Modelling section meets at the Barrs Lane site on Tuesday evenings, usually from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Please ask for one of the modellers during a Mizens Railway running session if you want to visit us on a meeting night.
