About us
Mizens Railway is a passenger carrying miniature railway situated on a delightful 10-acre wooded site near Woking in Surrey operating on a track gauge of 7¼ inches. Mizens Railway takes its name from its original location at Mizens Farm, where the headquarters of McLaren is now located. We moved to our present site in 2000 and held our official opening there in May 2002. We have now been running as a club for 35 years, being founded in 1989.
We have two routes in regular use, the Suburban and The Miler. The Suburban route is our shorter ride, around 3/4 of a mile in length which follows our mainline and roughly takes between 7-10 minutes to complete.
The Miler route is our longer ride at 1 Mile in length, which is why it's named the Miler. The route begins on our inner loop which then branches onto our mainline to complete the journey. This route roughly takes around 10-15 minutes to complete.
We do have a third route called The Highlander which is currently closed due to essential maintenance being carried out, we will provide information on re-opening closer to completion.
The railway is owned by Woking Miniature Railway Society Ltd and the entire operation is run entirely by volunteer members. For information on joining the Society please see our Membership page.
The Society also has a Modellers Section which builds and operates model railways in a variety of scales and gauges including 00, N and P4.
We have a variety of locomotives in regular use, including Diesel, Electric and Steam Engines. Information on the locomotives that run here at Mizens can be found here.
There is always lots to do on the site on both running days and during the week. If you would like to help, please consider becoming a member. Click here for details.
Follow us on our official Facebook and Instagram pages @mizensrailway for regular updates of activities at the railway.
